If you want to record a pure signal from a guitar, bass or electric piano with all its clarity and without any tonal change – even with stereo sources or two instruments simultaneously – the Palmer inn active DI-box offers the ideal solution. Thanks to the low-noise active circuit, a higher input impedance is achievable than with a passive DI-box. This means that the sound of the instruments is captured without any loss of high or low frequencies. A high input impedance is especially important when using electric guitars, electric basses and electromechanical electric pianos (e.g. Rhodes), as well as (passive) piezo pickups for acoustic instruments. The Palmer inn is also very well suited for synthesizers and other electronic keyboards, as it provides sufficient headroom to handle high-level signals without unwanted distortion. Furthermore, the inn is dual-channel, meaning it can process stereo signals or two instruments at the same time.
Naturally, the Palmer inn features a THRU output to pass the input signal on to the instrument amplifier. With a 30 dB pad activated, the Palmer inn can also optionally be inserted between the amplifier output and the speaker unit, in case the tone shaping of the amplifier needs to be recorded rather than the 'raw' instrument signal. A particularly practical feature is that the unit – in addition to the individual outputs for both channels – also provides a sum output carrying the signal of both channels combined. This saves mixer channels.
The balanced low-impedance output signals of the Palmer Inn are interference-resistant, allowing long cables to be used without any loss of audio quality. Thanks to the built-in transformer, the XLR outputs are galvanically isolated and equipped with individual Ground Lift switches to easily eliminate hum caused by ground loops. For power supply, 48V phantom power or a standard power supply (9-24V) can be used.
